USA - Grand Canyon, Bryce & Zion - September 26-October 2, 2010
Introduction
The sheer immensity of the canyons and the vistas of mountains, forests, cliffs and lakes are awe-inspiring. Here, the West has always been Wild - famous outlaws Butch Cassidy and Billy the Kid once rode the range.
Carved by eons of wind, water and geological upheaval, the rocks, spires and pinnacles of Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyons cast a spell of magical light, brilliant color and deep shadows.
We catch the dawn sunrise in Bryce Canyon; hike up to Watchman Trail to admire the expanse of Zion Canyon and lunch at the old Western movie town of Kanab.

Walk Itinerary
Sunday
From our rendezvous in St George, we drive to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. A world apart is revealed by a short overlook walk to catch-your-breath Bright Angel Point. We admire unforgettable sunset views of The Canyon followed by dinner in the famed old stone lodge and enjoy our first quiet night's sleep in the high clean air.
Monday
After a hearty breakfast, we enjoy a longish, but relatively flat, hike along the Widforss Trail named for the well-known watercolor landscape painter. Midway, we have a memorable picnic lunch with panoramic views over the Canyon. By late afternoon, we return to the lodge stopping at Cape Royal which affords us more memorable views of the Canyon from a different angle.
Tuesday
After packing the wagons, we're off to Bryce Canyon, stopping along the way at Jacob Lake Lodge for lunch in the old western movie town of Kanab. We then motor through some spectacular Red Rock Country to Bryce Canyon National Park and walk the rim trail in the late afternoon light before enjoying dinner at the lodge.
Wednesday
You may join early-rising Wayfarers for a short dawn walk to Sunrise Point, where we'll watch the sun ignite the altar candles in the great rock cathedral. Fantastic! Our Bryce walk leads us to a grove of ancient bristlecone pine and to Fairyland Canyon, every bit as magical as its name.
Thursday
After breakfast, we head for Zion saving, arguably, the best National Park for last - but it's a tough choice! We enter Zion along a scenic drive stopping for a short walk along the Overlook Trail, then down to the Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, we hike the famed Narrows Walk, visit Weeping Rock, and and end the day at the Human History Museum and Visitor Center in Zion. We settle into Flanigan's Inn in Springdale and there will be time for an optional spa treatment before dinner. Giddy-up and join the locals for a more casual evening at the Bit and Spur Saloon.
Friday
This morning we hike up to the Watchman Trail with outstanding views of the colorful expanse of Zion Canyon. After lunch, relax by the pool, stroll the shops of Springdale or cross the handsome suspension bridge for an afternoon walk to Emerald Pools to view its three waterfalls. Our Farewell Dinner is elegantly served at Flanigan's Inn.
Saturday
On our way to St. George we stop at historic Grafton, now a Ghost Town with important tales to tell about the pioneering days of the American West in the mid 18th century.
This itinerary represents a typical Walk. We prepare itineraries well in advance of the trip and therefore we reserve the right to make changes due to weather, local events or other circumstances - but always to improve the experience of our guests.
