Greece - Athens & The Peloponnese

Introduction

Exploring classic landscapes provides a vivid insight into places made famous in ancient literature.

We follow simple tracks winding through olive groves and across wild mountainsides, visit remote villages and sample traditional ways of life. There is the chance to swim in the intense blue waters of the Aegean and explore streets and squares bursting with local life.

A highlight of the week will be discovering the royal tholos tombs of King Menelaus of Sparta and his wife Helen, immortalized by Homer's epic, The Iliad. Dated at 1500BC, the site is well hidden and extremely atmospheric. Other major archaeological sites we encounter include the Sanctuary of Asclepius at Epidaurus and the Vaulted Tomb of Vafio, famous for the precious gold and silver artifacts found there.

Who are your most frequent travelers? What are they like?

They are interested, interesting people from all walks of life - curious about the world around with a shared desire to learn about the culture of a place by exerienceing it up close on foot.
Are there any hidden costs?
Our Vacations do not include the cost of air or rail fares to and from the destination or tips for your walk leader and manager.
How large are the Groups?
Our maximum group size is 16, but groups average between 8-12 people.
Will I feel welcome as a single traveler?
Yes! Our walks are the perfect environment of comfortable camaraderie for the single traveler.
Can you accomodate special diets?
Yes!
How physically fit do I have to be to do a Wayfarers Walk?
If you are in good health and reasonably fit you will be comfortable participating in a walk.
