Camino de Santiago

Camino de Santiago

Introduction

walking adventure

“A life changing experience...transforming...self-discovery…an affirmation of the human spirit.” This is how modern-day seekers describe their experience along the Camino de Santiago, one of the world’s great journeys. They come from around the world to follow paths trod by pilgrims for more than a thousand years. The destination is the city of Santiago de Compostela and the tomb of St.James. But like all Wayfarers' Walks, this is about the journey. We follow ancient roads marked by graceful scallop shells, the symbol of the saint, past medieval villages, soaring Romanesque cathedrals, intimate chapels and sanctuaries and peaceful hills and valleys. No one is a stranger here – each person forges their own spiritual path, yet all are united on the ancient Camino.

Begin in Burgos, the burial place of El Cid Visit the Cruz de Hierro towering above thousands of pilgrims’ stones Discover the unspoiled village of O’Cebreiro with its oval stone huts Rejoice in Santiago’s Praza do Obradoiro – the journey’s end and a new beginning
