Not far from Buenos Aires (70 km 43 miles), but a world away from city life - enjoy a relaxing stay on an Estancia within walking distance from the quaint Colonial town of San Antonia de Areco. Famous as the home of Ricardo Güiraldes, the gaucho-writer and folk hero who immortalised the legend and history of pampas life, San Antonia de Areco also boasts the finest in traditional silversmith workshops and a historic and beautiful town center.

Additional Trip Extensions include a city-stay at a boutique hotel in Buenos Aires and hiking in Torres del Paine National Park, in Chilean Patagonia.

Day 1 – Buenos Aires – San Antonio de Areco

The tour begins with a private transfer from your hotel or the airport to Estancia (ranch) Cina Cina at San Antonio de Areco, accompanied by a bilingual guide who will give you a walking tour and orientation of the historic San Antonia de Areco before dropping you off at the estancia for your stay. Situated 115 km (70 miles) away from Buenos Aires, San Antonio de Areco is probably one of the prettiest towns in the pampas. Although Cina Cina is located only 5 blocks away from the historical center, you will enjoy the peace of staying in the countryside and have plenty of time to relax, read or listen to peaceful music surrounded by nature. You’ll also get closer to the gaucho culture and their traditions.

Day 2 / 3 – San Antonio de Areco

Day at leisure to explore its compact center and picturesque colonial streets are perfect for walking and relaxing due to its peaceful atmosphere. Around the main square called Plaza Ruiz de Arellano are several historic buildings, including the Iglesia Parroquial (parish church). The Puente Viejo (old bridge; 1857) it’s now a pedestrian bridge leading to San Antonio de Areco’s main attraction, the Museo Gauchesco Ricardo Güiraldes. We recommend you trying the traditional asado in one of the restaurants downtown as well as enjoying a daily activities the town has sitting in one of the cafes opposite the main square.

Day 3 / 4 – Buenos Aires
According to your schedule, after breakfast or even a bit later if you prefer, you will be escorted by private service back to Buenos Aires (selected hotel or local airport).

Join The Wayfarers Patagonia Walk. If you are doing this trip after the Walk, you may choose stay on in Buenos Aires before your return home.
