Spring is a season full of life and nowhere more than in Britain and Europe. Shutters are being flung open, tables appear on terraces outside little restaurants; the temperature begins its slow climb and the summer crowds are still long away. There is no better way to make the most of this blossoming season of promise than a spot of slow travel.

Shake off the winter blues

Imagine shaking off any lingering winter blues and taking to the trail under a sunny sky, with cooling breezes to blow the cobwebs away. Whether it is Scotland’s far, far northerly islands (don’t worry, the weather here in May is very often spectacular!) or Portugal’s dramatic cliffs and beaches, this is the very best time to go a-Wayfaring. There may be the odd shower, but that’s what will bring forth a million wildflowers. And there could be a wonderful medieval arcade to shelter under, or a mighty Scottish castle to explore. The light is great for photography and the birds and wildlife are busy out there, preparing for their young, so there’s a great chance of seeing nature right there in front of you.

Portugal Walking Vacations with The Wayfarers

Markets (and our dinner plates) are full of the freshest produce. In southern Europe, we will be spoiled by a feast of soft fruits – and it will surely be warm enough to merit an ice-cream in Italy. And let’s not forget that air fares outside the high summer season are often very appealing too!

Make it a double!

Make the most of the trip and book two of our Walks, back-to-back. Next May our two Walks in Tuscany, our Scottish itineraries, or Puglia with the Amalfi Coast make perfect combinations. All our Walks are fully inclusive and we take care of the baggage, so all you have to do is step out with a spring in your step! Check out our website and brochure for more information.
