Step into Slovenia's lush flower meadows, explore the caves and canyons of its intricate river network, breathe in the pure mountain air of the Julian Alps, and bask in this exquisitely tranquil and unspoilt corner of Europe. On our exclusive Slovenian journey you will be instantly transported back to a simpler time, full of old-world charm and natural beauty, a culture unchanged and pristine. The beauty of Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj - two of the jewels in Slovenia’s crown - is complemented by majesty; the medieval Castle of Bled and the magnificent 190-ft Savica Waterfall on Lake Bohinj. Travel with us by ferry across the mystical, protected waters of Triglav National Park. There is the tantalising chance of spotting the scarce, short-lived Edelweiss flower during our mountain walks, the horizon gently dotted with picturesque hayracks, called toplars, unique to Slovenia. Walking from village to village and strolling through vineyards and fruit orchards, we arrive in Brda to sample the delights of a traditional Slovenian castle’s wine cellar. slov country church 500 A must-see capital city, we explore and enjoy Ljubljana, with its inspiring and romantic architecture. Other highlights of this richly varied tour include dining at a magical restaurant in the woods and learning about the absorbing arts of cheese-making, bee-keeping and, at the famous Idrija Lace School, traditional lace-making techniques. We follow Slovenia's lattice of rivers from the Reka, which winds its way underground into the Skocjan Cave, an impressive World Heritage Site, to the Soca, which in turn flows into the Idrijca. From here we catch the train on the historic Transalpina Line, built at the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Find out more about our Walk in Slovenia here.
