PRESS RELEASE  26 July 2016 THE WAYFARERS WALKING VACATIONS HIKES PORTUGAL IN 2017 The Wayfarers Walking Vacations is offering a new Walk on Portugal’s Algarve coastline for 2017. The itinerary for this all-inclusive, six-night hiking tour majors on the stunning wild coastline of this, the south-westernmost edge of Europe. A landscape of nationally protected nature reserves, pristine beaches, wild coastlines and jagged cliffs, the western Algarve is home to Europe’s south-westernmost point, Cabo de Sao Vicente (Cape St Vincent), a scene of key naval battles across the centuries. Inland, old Portugal still exists, with white villages surrounded by carob, fig and almond trees, and remarkably well-preserved medieval towns with cobbled streets. The Wayfarers’ founder Michael West says: 'I am delighted that we will be taking our guests to The Algarve as part of our 2017 program. 'There is no better time to experience Portugal. Full of history and right on the edge of Europe, The Algarve is perfect hiking territory and it seems like a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. 'The coastline is exquisite; the weather reliable. The food is excellent with plentiful fresh fish - best eaten right by the sea - and there are so many tucked-away treasures to discover. 'The Portuguese people are known for their friendliness and hospitality and as with all The Wayfarers’ Walks, we get to meet the local people, who will tell us more about life in this beautiful country.' Highlights:

  • - Local cuisine featuring fresh seafood
  • - Day-long expedition to Foia, the highest point in the Algarve range
