Crossing the border from Austria, we discover a land of rural villages rich in folklore and tradition, wooded hills, rare flowers and tranquil lakes. We marvel at Baroque architecture and meander through majestic landscaped parkland. We explore the unspoilt town of Cesk Krumlov and sample the beer in one of the oldest breweries in Europe. Our trip ends in the vibrant capital city of Prague, where we walk the famous Charles Bridge and visit Prague Castle, the largest ancient castle in the world.

Saturday Overnight: My Hotel

Meet The Wayfarers for a walking tour of the Old City of Vienna followed by a transfer to Lednice, former summer residence of Liechtenstein family. We arrive at our hotel for our Introductory Talk and Welcome Dinner.

Sunday Overnight: My Hotel

In the morning we visit Mikulov, situated in the heart of Moravia's wine region, and we walk through its small town center. We continue to nearby Palava Hills, a splendid nature reserve with medieval ruins, rare flowers and distant views. In the afternoon we return to Lednice and visit its chateau. We end our day in a typical wine cellar with local food and folk music.

Monday Overnight: Hotel Lahofer

We drive westwards to another wine region around Znojmo. Here we walk along the river Thaya (Dyje), which forms the natural border with Austria, and its unique, untouched valley has become the National Park Thayatal (Podyj). We end our day in Znojmo, one of the oldest towns in the country, with a picturesque and quiet historic center, not yet discovered by tourists.

Tuesday Overnight: Hotel Concertino

Our day starts with a drive to Slavonice, a small historic town where time stopped centuries ago. Our walk then takes us into the beautiful natural area called "Czech Canada", through forests and along lakes. After a lunch in a typical village we drive on to Telc, a Renaissance jewel, listed by UNESCO, for a short walk around the triangular town square with its embellished building facades. We finish our day at Jindrichuv Hradec (Henry's Castle) where we stay in a hotel in the central square.

Wednesday Overnight: Hotel Ruze

We walk through forests and past numerous lakes to the little town of Trebon with its colorful historic buildings, cobblestone streets and moat. After lunch in a local fish restaurant, we journey on to Cesky Krumlov, one of Europes most beautiful and best-preserved towns.

Thursday Overnight: Hotel Ruze

From the hotel, we walk to the richly decorated castle for a guided tour. This castle is one of the largest in Central Europe and was originally constructed in the 13th century into the side of the rock cliffs towering above the Vltava river, giving stunning views across the rooftops of the town. After this we drive out of the town to enjoy the last walk through forests and along the river Vltava (Moldau) where there are many typical Czech weekend cottages, to Zlata Koruna, a village with a former 13th Century Cistercian Monastery. We return to Cesky Krumlov for lunch and have the afternoon free to explore the town further, maybe do a little shopping or return to the hotel to enjoy a massage in the spa.

Friday Overnight: Hotel Leonardo

After breakfast we transfer by bus from Cesky Krumlov to the center of Prague. On arrival, we start our walk at Strahov Hill which is the highest point in Prague with a beautiful view of the city. Then we walk along the streets of Hradcany towards the Castle, through its courtyards and then downhill towards Charles Bridge, one of the most beautiful bridges in Europe. Our hotel is situated at the foot of it. After lunch, we walk across the bridge to the Old Town to see the famous astronomical clock on the medieval Town Hall and continue to the far end of the "Coronation route" where we find the Gothic Powder Tower. We end our day in a fine restaurant for our Farewell dinner.
