Highlights

  • Experience three of the USA's iconic national parks, each with distinctive and dramatic beauty
  • Enjoy the less visited North Rim of the Grand Canyon at the most magical light of the day
  • Hike in and among the surreal landscape of Bryce Canyon's stone spires
  • Walk alongside some of the world's tallest sandstone cliffs in Zion Canyon

The sheer immensity of the canyons and the vistas of mountains, forests, cliffs are awe-inspiring. Here, the West has always been Wild - famous outlaws Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid once rode the range.

Carved by eons of wind, water and geological upheaval, the rocks, spires and pinnacles of Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyon cast a spell of astonishing light and brilliant color.

Sunday Overnight: Grand Canyon Lodge

From our rendezvous in St George, we drive to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. A world apart is revealed by a short overlook walk to catch-your-breath Bright Angel Point. We admire unforgettable sunset views of the Canyon followed by dinner in the famed old stone lodge and enjoy our first quiet night's sleep in the high clean air.

Monday Overnight: Grand Canyon Lodge

Gear up for an undulating hike through a high pine forest with many-textured views of the Canyon along the dramatic Widforss Trail. After lunch, a scenic drive holds even more memorable Canyon views from various overlooks and stops along the way. Bring your camera!

Tuesday Overnight: Bryce Canyon Lodge

Today, we're off to Bryce Canyon, stopping for lunch in the old western movie town of Kanab. We then motor through some spectacular Red Rock country and walk the rim trail in the glow of late afternoon sunlight.

Wednesday Overnight: Bryce Canyon Lodge

Wake up for a short dawn walk to Sunrise Point, in time to watch the sun ignite the altar candles in the great rock amphitheater. Fantastic! And yet, it won't fully prepare you for the feeling you'll have as we walk into the amphitheater and come face to face with the dramatic and powerful limestone ˜hoodoos'.

Thursday Overnight: Flanigans Inn

A scenic drive leads to Zion, stopping for a short walk along the Overlook Trail. We visit the History Museum for an introductory film before lunch. Later, be prepared to get a little wet when we follow a short but steep trail to Weeping Rock. The water really does seep down from above the rock alcove! End the day at the Visitor Center in Zion, and an enjoyable dinner in town.

Friday Overnight: Flanigans Inn

We're up early to hike the Emerald Pools Trail, then on to the great Narrows walkway. After lunch, relax by the pool, stroll the shops of Springdale, or take an optional walk. Our Farewell Dinner is at the hotel.

Saturday

After breakfast, we return to St George for onward connections.

Hotels - Where we stay

Grand Canyon Lodge

Grand Canyon Lodge

A National Historic Landmark, this rustic in-park lodge was built in the 1920's as part of the Union Pacific's 'Loop Tour', joining the lodges built at Bryce Canyon and Zion to develop tourism in Southern Utah. It is the only accommodation available inside the National Park on the North Rim and all buildings are constructed from local stone and timber so that they blend perfectly with the landscape. The Lodge has impressive public spaces that are uniquely Southwestern - the immense Lodge Dining Room and relaxing Sun Lounge have panoramic views through enormous picture windows facing the Canyon. All guests stay in rustic cabins, located close to the Canyon's Rim.

Bryce Canyon Lodge

Bryce Canyon Lodge

Set just back from the rim of a dazzling natural amphitheater, the Lodge has unsurpassed access to a fantastic throng of pink-hued stone spires, fins and pinnacles that resemble tall whimsical sculptures or a mad organist's pipe dream. Completely renovated to its original rustic 1920's elegance, this beautiful 'in-park' lodge is on the National Historic Register. All the rooms are comfortably furnished and include a telephone, alarm clock, hairdryer and hair and body products.

Flanigans Inn

Flanigans Inn

Simple, peaceful and harmonious, this lovely inn is situated at the west entrance to Zion National Park with fantastic views of the red sandstone cliffs. Stroll to the hilltop above the lodge to capture inspiring sunsets and invigorating sunrises! All rooms are beautifully appointed and include amenities such as television, telephone, alarm clock, coffee maker and spa body products to enjoy from the Deep Canyon Adventure Spa located on property. The Spotted Dog Cafe is a casual American Bistro restaurant featuring handcrafted gourmet regional cuisine and a superb wine list.
